Humanist Global Bill of Rights

Humanists (aka atheists, secularists, freethinkers, skeptic, etc.) are a significant percentage of the global population and our numbers are rapidly increasing. We deserve the following privileges:

LIFE: We demand an immediate end to the barbaric laws in 13 nations that criminalize humanism with severe punishments, including the death penalty.  Our right to be humanists is guaranteed in Article 18 of the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Nations that oppress humanism should be cast out of the UN for violating our human rights. Governments that tolerate oppression and assassination of humanist, atheist and rationalist activists should be banished from the international community.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH: Humanists demand the right to freely express our opinions in every nation; this privilege is guaranteed in Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We insist on our liberty to write, produce, publish, display and sell humanist literature and media throughout the world. We also demand the ”right of assembly” (Article 20) - freedom to gather in meetings, conferences, and public events; freedom to build Humanist Halls; freedom to establish humanist schools.

RESPECT FOR THE HUMANIST PRINCIPLES: Amsterdam Declaration 2002 asserts the values of world humanism. We want an ethical, rational, democratic, and egalitarian world that upholds human rights, personal liberties, and social responsibilities, and rejects dogmatic religion. We believe this as the best path forward for humanity.
